Mardy’s Tennis & Jake’s Music Fest
Vero Beach, Fla. – The fourth annual Mardy’s Tennis & Jake’s Music Fest to Benefit the Mardy Fish Foundation is excited to announce that Casey Beathard, Kevin Denny, Kendall Marvel, Jimmy Ritchy, and Philip White will open for Jake Owen on December 11, 2009 at 8:00 p.m. at Vero Beach High School Performing Arts Center.
Casey Beathard is known for his up-tempo party anthems and was named Songwriter of the Year by Broadcast Music Incorporated in 2004. Beathard has written Top 10 songs for some of Country’s most successful artists including Kenny Chesney, Trace Atkins, Gary Allen, Tracy Byrd, and Billy Currington.
Kevin Denney released his self-titled album in 2001 which produced the Top 20 hit “That’s Just Jessie.” Denney is also known for his songwriting talent which was displayed on Tracy Byrd’s “A Cowboy and a Dancer” in 2006 and on Craig Morgan’s “Bonfire” in 2009.
Kendall Marvel has joined the ranks of Nashville top writers, producers and performers. Marvel penned “Right Where I Need to Be," the hit recorded by Gary Allen, along with “Startin’ With Me,” “Yee Haw,” “Hard Not To Love You,” “Places to Run” and “You Can Thank Dixie” from Jake Owen’s debut album and Owen’s Top 5 hit “Don’t Think I Can’t Love You” off of Easy Does It.
Jimmy Ritchey is a writer and producer that has worked with some of Country’s biggest stars. Ritchey wrote George Strait’s “Twang,” five song off of Mark Chesnutt’s “Savin’ the Honky Tonk” and “Strong” by Tracy Lawrence. He has also worked with Jake Owen since the beginning of his career, co-writing over 15 songs with Owen.
Phillip White is one of Nashville’s most sought after songwriters with an Academy of Country Music Award for best song to his credit. Some of White’s Top 10 songs include Rascall Flats hit “I’m Moving On” which won the best song award, Reba McEntire’s “I’m a Survivor” and “He Gets That From Me,” and Neal McCoy’s “Billy’s Got His Beer Goggles On.”

Mardy’s Tennis & Jake’s Music Fest kicks off on December 11, 2009 with a Kids’ Tennis Clinic, 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. at Grand Harbor Golf & Beach Club and a Concert by Jake Owen at the Vero Beach High School Performing Arts Center beginning at 8:00 p.m. The following day, December 12th, will feature the Barbeque Luncheon from 12:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. and Tennis Exhibition at 2:30 p.m. featuring Mardy Fish vs. James Blake with a doubles match featuring David Martin and Jesse Levine to follow.
Mardy’s Tennis & Jake’s Music Fest benefits the Mardy Fish Foundation, which Fish created in 2006 to support youth organizations in Indian River County, including the Pelican Island Elementary School/Mardy Fish Music Club and Health & Fitness Club, the Youth Guidance Foundation and Boys & Girls Club of Vero Beach. The Foundation has started three additional after school programs and clubs at Glendale Elementary School, Sebastian Elementary School and JA Thompson Magnet Elementary School. The Youth Guidance Foundation will use the funds raised by the Mardy Fish Foundation to provide children the opportunity to attend summer camp and participate in sports and music programs. Working with the Boys & Girls Club of Vero Beach, the Foundation supports programs that provide a fun and safe after school environment and camps.
