EMI Nashville Recording Artist Eric Paslay Joins Star-Studded Lineup for Mardy’s Tennis & Jake’s Music Fest Concert
Jake Owen and Mardy Fish Welcome Acclaimed Songwriter and Performer to Vero Beach for Annual Hometown Benefit Concert
Vero Beach, Fla. – Eric Paslay, one of country music’s rising stars, will perform in Vero Beach on Saturday, December 10th at the sixth annual Concert, one of the highlights of Mardy’s Tennis & Jake’s Music Fest to Benefit the Mardy Fish Foundation and Jake Owen Foundation. Paslay will join Vero Beach native and RCA Nashville recording artist Jake Owen and Grammy-nominated RCA Nashville recording artist Chris Young at Holman Stadium at Vero Beach Sports Village. The Concert will wrap up an exciting weekend of festivities that also includes the Tennis Exhibition featuring Event Host Mardy Fish, American tennis professional Sam Querrey and top-ranked doubles tandem Bob and Mike Bryan, as well as the Country Western-themed Reception and Kids’ Tennis Clinic.
Paslay has established himself as one of Nashville’s most sought after young songwriters, contributing tracks for Lady Antebellum, the Eli Young Band, and Donny and Marie Osmond. Paslay also co-wrote Jake Owen’s 2011 smash hit “Barefoot Blue Jean Night.” In February 2011, Paslay signed with EMI Records Nashville to record his debut album, giving him the opportunity to focus on his career as an artist. His debut single, “Never Really Wanted” reached No. 48 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart. Paslay has toured with many country music greats, including Dierks Bentley, Clint Black, Eric Church, Blake Shelton and Little Big Town, and is currently on tour with Vero Beach’s own Jake Owen.
“We are very excited to announce the addition of my good friend Eric Paslay to the Mardy’s Tennis & Jake’s Music Fest lineup,” said Owen. “Eric is one of Nashville’s best songwriters but he’s also a great performer. I think folks are really going to be blown away by his set.”
Proceeds from Mardy’s Tennis & Jake’s Music Fest benefit the Mardy Fish Foundation and Jake Owen Foundation. The Mardy Fish Foundation mission is to provide children access to after school exercise, nutritional and enrichment programs in a safe environment to prepare them for healthy, productive and successful lives so they can achieve their dreams. Since its establishment in 2006, the Mardy Fish Foundation has opened after school programs in 13 elementary schools benefiting more than 2,000 students in Indian River County. Founded in 2010, the Jake Owen Foundation was created to offer its support on a national level to children battling cancer and other childhood diseases through St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital while lending its support to the Mardy Fish Foundation and its mission to assist youth. St. Jude patients are benefiting from the extensive research and patient-care the hospital provides.
2011 has been an exciting year for Jake Owen and Chris Young as well. Owen released his third studio album, Barefoot Blue Jean Night, in August, and the title track became the first Platinum-certified hit of his career. Young released his third album, Neon, received a CMA nomination for New Artist of the Year and had the fourth No. 1 single of his career with “Tomorrow.” Owen’s current single “Alone with You” and Young’s “You” both rank among the Hot Country Songs Top 40.
