FIFTH ANNUAL MARDY’S TENNIS & JAKE’S MUSIC FEST

VERO BEACH, Fla., -- This year’s annual Jake Owen Concert, always an exciting feature of the annual Mardy’s Tennis & Jake’s Music Fest to Benefit the Mardy Fish Foundation, is making a move to historic Holman Stadium (formerly Dodgertown Stadium) on Friday, December 10, 2010.  Owen, a RCA Nashville recording artist, sold-out the previous four years of concerts during Mardy’s Tennis & Jake’s Music Fest, which has prompted a move to the larger, outdoor Holman Stadium to better accommodate the growing support from Vero Beach community and neighboring areas. Holman Stadium is a historic venue that was the past home of the Brooklyn/LA Dodgers and has hosted top entertainers such as Vince Gill and Kenny Rogers.

Owen, a hometown favorite in Vero Beach, is a Grammy, CMA, ACM and CMT award-nominated artist who was named the 2009 Top New Male Vocalist by the Academy of Country Music.  Following the success of his debut album, Startin’ with Me, Owen’s Easy Does It released in 2009 and debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart.  In addition to headlining his own shows, Owen has toured with such stars as Brad Paisely, Carrie Underwood, Brooks & Dunn, Alan Jackson, Sugarland and Kenny Chesney.  Known for a growing list of hits, including “Eight Second Ride,” “Don’t Think I Can’t Love You,” and others, Owen will be joined at this year’s concert by additional country artists to be announced soon.

The Kids’ Tennis Clinic, Luncheon and Tennis Exhibition will be held at Grand Harbor Golf & Beach Club, the Official Host Sponsor of the Event.  The Event weekend kicks-off on Friday, December 10, 2010 with a Kids’ Tennis Clinic followed by the Jake Owen Concert.  The Event continues on Saturday, December 11, 2010 with a Luncheon that includes a live and silent auction and a Tennis Exhibition featuring Event Host Mardy Fish, who will be joined by current and/or former touring tennis professionals in a singles and doubles match.

Fish created the Mardy Fish Foundation to support youth organizations in Indian River County.  The Foundation opened the Pelican Island Elementary School/Mardy Fish Music Club and Health & Fitness Club in September 2007.  The program provides a place for children to take part in various activities that builds the self-esteem of participants via sports, music, dance, and art.

The Foundation has also funded after-school programs that opened for the 2009-2010 school year at J.A. Thompson Elementary, Glendale Elementary, Citrus Elementary, Sebastian Elementary and Vero Beach Elementary.  Similar after-school programs will be launched for the 2010-2011 school year at Treasure Coast Elementary, Liberty Magnet Elementary, Fellsmere Elementary and Dodgertown Elementary.

The Foundation also initiated the new Mardy’s Kids on Courts, a five-week tennis program for children ages 7-12 that focuses on match play and instruction.  The Foundation will continue to support other youth organizations, including the Boys & Girls Club of Vero Beach, and The Youth Guidance Foundation, which uses funds raised by the Mardy Fish Foundation to provide children the opportunity to attend summer camp and participate in sports and music programs.

Fish, currently ranked No. 21, won back-to-back titles for the first time in his career at Newport and Atlanta this summer.  The winner of five singles and eight doubles titles on the ATP tour, Fish also reached the Cincinnati final this summer, losing to Roger Federer in three sets.  He’s also played on the U.S. Davis Cup Team during his career, won the 2004 Olympic Silver Medal at the Athens Games and ranked among the top 20 in the world.  In doubles, Fish is also enjoying a successful 2010 season, winning his seventh ATP doubles title in San Jose, CA with Sam Querrey, and his eighth doubles title in Washington, DC with Mark Knowles.

The Event Host Sponsor, Grand Harbor Golf & Beach Club, with over 2,000 acres along the Indian River, reflects the rare beauty of its setting and the casual elegance of Vero Beach while providing the ultimate country club lifestyle.  Offering golf on two championship 18-hole courses, tennis on 10 Har-tru courts, swimming in the ocean-front pool or dining at our exclusive Country or Beach Clubs, Grand Harbor is Vero’s premier country club community.  An extraordinary collection of new homes includes gracious luxurious villas and estate properties designed with classic Mediterranean style.  Grand Harbor. . .Simply Grand.
